We utilize the latest, industry-leading, American-made Hobie fishing kayaks using their revolutionary pedal drive system. In the process of our adventure, anglers will learn more about fishing on a kayak charter than most boat charters. Customers to not only succeed in catching fish, they get a step in the right direction on learning the how’s and why’s of fishing in and around Charleston.

A kayak fishing charter offers something for everyone interested in giving it a try. From the first time kayaker to the season bass kayak angler, Topwater Kayak Charters has what it takes to guide you at whatever your point in the journey coming in. We and work to safely teach anglers everything from basic use of the boat/rods to assisting experienced fly anglers and/or successful bass anglers where and how to locate fish. Topwater's repeat customers include frequent visitors to Charleston looking for a reliable source of fishing information and knowledge winter through fall. Our current offerings are streamlined to what local and tourists want, pounding hears, ripping drag, and fish on the line. Topwater's exclusive fishing menu for 2022 features: Bulls Bay, the upper Wando River, Sullivan's Island, Mt. Pleasant area, the Santee River, and on-site charters from neighborhood/private access.  We move around Charleston County chasing the best bite each season of the year, so let's find your adventure today in one of the WORLD'S TOP KAYAK FISHING DESTINATIONS!

Our charters ideally suited for between 1 and 3 guests, however with prior arrangements (cannot be booked online) we can accommodate up to 6 guests but require the services of an additional guide. Inshore Kayak Fishing

Topwater's bread and butter fishing excursion! Explore and fish the Lowcountry by kayak. Your trip will take you through the tidal creeks, marshes, and bays located in and around Charleston and Bulls Bay. All gear is provided including Hobie pedal-drive kayaks, safety equipment, fishing gear, bait, water, and light snacks.  A cooler is available for kept catches as well as for lunches, medications, or drinks.  Anglers will meet at pre-determined launch location as agreed upon by guide.  This trip is available year-round and targets inshore species in season. Typical catches can include: redfish, speckled seatrout, flounder, black drum, sheepshead, bonnethead shark, ladyfish. (Valid SC Saltwater Fishing License Required)

Santee River Basin Freshwater

Bowfin fishing is an absolute BLAST and Topwater Kayak Charters lead the way in making these ancient fish one of the fastest growing segments of tournament kayak fishing! Along the way, see alligators, feral hogs, snakes, fox squirrels, bobcat, swallow-tail kite, eagles, owls, and many other fascinating creatures that inhabit the edges of our low-lying swamp lands. This excursion kayaks deep into an oxbow lake and surrounding ancient cypress swamps to immerse participants in the daily life of this amazing ecosystem. After exploring the surface level and above, this adventure also includes swamp fishing, an adventure all its own. Teeming with life both new and ancient, this flooded timber holds largemouth bass, huge Santee catfish, long-nose gar, jackfish/pickerel, bream, perch, and bowfin (mudfish). Swamp fishing is an off the beaten path adventure and on excursion not to miss! (Valid SC Freshwater Fishing License is required).

Kayak Shark Fishing

Available June/July/August with booking availability coming soon!

Experience the adrenaline rush of battling sharks in a kayak as you're towed around by these powerful predators! This is midsummer's best action and 4 hours is plenty of time for anglers to get tired out fighting bonnethead, spinner, and black tip sharks among others! Kayaks, gear, and bait are provided along with PFD and safety gear. This is one trip you'll be telling everyone about for years to come.
